Chaudiere Lodge is located on an island in Ontario's legendary Upper French River. Just 4 1/2 hours north of Toronto by car. The French connects Lake Nipissing, one of Ontario's premier walleye fisheries, to Lake Huron's Georgian Bay. Lake Nipissing is over 50 miles long by 20 miles wide with the Upper French occupying over 20 miles of great fishing. Including the bays and inlets, this portion of the French reaches widths of 5 to 6 miles and does not appear to be a river at all but resembling instead a large lake with numerous islands and no discernible current. You can spend weeks exploring the Upper French and never fish the same place twice.
The land tenure for this island property consists of 16.9 +/- acres of deeded land. The land is generally level or gently sloping. Beautiful White and Red pines offer shade in a peaceful surrounding. Stone pathways lined with perrenial gardens lead to the Lodge.
The resort area is very nicely landscaped with spacious lawn and flowers gardens. Mainland parking is available through a lease agreement with the marina in Dokis, and guests are taxied to and from Chaudiere by lodge staff. The mainland access is just a few short minutes by boat from the Lodge.

Exploring the many islands, countless bays and secluded inlets is an adventure for newcomers and experienced fishers alike. There are wonderful opportunities for photography while staying at Chaudiere Lodge. Take a canoe and explore the spectacular French River. There is abundant wildlife: loons, beaver, mink, otter, moose, deer, and a variety of birds.
The Upper French River connects through deep channels to Lake Nipissing. This is perfect habitat for an abundance of the most popular sport fish; including Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass, Muskie, and a variety of pan fish. According to local government marine biologists, the fishing has not changed here in 25 years.
Chaudiere Lodge boasts superior quality fishing equipment and a fleet of spotless cedar strip boats, equipped with comfortable swivel seats, 20 h.p. motors or 15 h.p. 4-stroke electric start motors, depth finders, and electric bilge pumps. Experienced professional guides are on staff and rates include guides for a day or more. Many regular guests do not use guides, as this body of water is quite easy to navigate once a couple of landmarks are pointed out. The Upper French is particularly noted for an abundance of large Muskies.
The shorefront cottages are 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms in size and can accommodate two, four, or six guests. They overlook a natural panorama of lush green islands and clean sparkling waterways. The cottages are well appointed with comfortable furniture and equipped with coffee makers, shampoo, refrigerators, toothpaste and razors. Porches are either screened-in or open-air decks. The private, three or four piece bathrooms have cozy electric heat. The bedrooms have single beds with inner spring mattresses, colourful Hudson Bay blankets, and plenty of linens and towels. Daily cleaning by the staff keeps the cottages spotless.
Guests at Chaudiere Lodge are treated to some of the most exquisite fine dining available anywhere. The kitchen staff is second to none, with professional training, professional preparation, and professional sanitation procedures. Entrees include Crown Roast of Pork with Wild Rice, Fennel, and Sausage Stuffing or Baked Rainbow Trout with Shrimp Stuffing or Grilled Chicken Breast with Tarragon Cream Sauce. Dinner is always a four-course meal at Chaudiere Lodge. The professionally equipped kitchen would delight even the most discriminating Chef!
